We are Giants by Amber Lee Dodd
“The front cover of the book intrigued me with the silhouettes of the three characters and their shadows. I loved the book from the very beginning – often I need time to ‘get into a book’. I could relate to the two young girls, sisters living with their mother. The fact that it does not actually say that the mum has dwarfism until near the end of the book keeps you thinking (despite it being obvious to an adult reader this may keep a child thinking). I liked that fact the book challenged difficulties that the whole family had and how the mum was not the one worrying, but her two daughters. I would definitely recommend this book as it will inspire children to aim high and reach out despite barriers that might be there or that might appear as they grow up.”
