Heard it in the Playground by Allan Ahlberg
“An anthology of Ahlberg’s poetry and songs about life in school. Ahlberg is an author whose work I love. I am determined to broaden my reading of poetry and thought this would be a good book to start with. The poems and songs are funny, though I do wonder if it is written more for the teacher than for children. I found the rhythm of some poems a bit tricky, repetition and practise gets the best out of them! I think this would be a fun book to share reading aloud.”
