A picture book follow-up to The Colour Monster, Anna Llenas's delightful pop-up book. One day, Colour Monster wakes up feeling very confused. His emotions are all over the place; he feels angry, happy, calm, sad and scared all at once! To help him, a little girl shows thim what each feeling means through colour. What is the Colour Monster feeling? And can you help him feel a little less mixed up? A gentle exploration of feelings for young and old alike.

The book was very descriptive about a range of feelings we all feel. I think that this will help children to regulate their emotions and understand that it is okay to feel ‘all mixed up’ sometimes.

A brilliant core text to teach EYFS about different emotions. Opens up some great discussions.

A really great book for young children or children who struggle with identifying emotions. I like how the author uses different colours to associate with each emotion, and there’s lots of nice imagery and vocabulary.

Excellent for teaching emotional literacy skills - recognising, labelling and describing a variety of feelings. Nice introduction to similes. Beautiful collage effect illustrations.

Communication through colour. Maybe helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves verbally.

We use The Colour Monster in class as part of our ‘Mindfulness’ library and also as a discussion around feelings and dealing with emotions. The children respond well to the illustrations and the message given.

The Colour Monster is a colourful book to support children in understanding their emotions and that sometimes they can be mixed. The book shows different emotions and what they look like and how you might feel. It allows children to explore their own emotions and recognise how they are feeling. The pictures support the feelings and show how he feels. It leaves the reader interpreting what the last feeling is. This promotes lots of discussion and supports personal development in children.

A beautifully illustrated book, encouraging emotional literacy. The Colour Monster is walked through his emotions - finding our which colour is linked to which feeling- by his friend, who helps to name and untangle his messy feelings. A fabulous book for any children struggling to pinpoint what they might be feeling that day.
