Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman
“This book gripped my class more than any other I have read to them this year. There are some quite grown up themes but they handled them really well and showed fantastic maturity and understanding. We read this together after returning from lockdown, and it coincided so well with the BLM protests and everything that was happening in the news. This book explores so many themes that are so important to teach children – grief, racism, class structures, prejudice.”
